There are days where the strongest feeling isn’t sadness or exhaustion. It’s just wanting to be somewhere else. Not far. Not forever. Just not here, for a bit. Outbound is the game I’ve got my eye on for exactly that feeling. A camper van, an open world, and absolutely no one asking anything of you.
I’ve been watching this one since the demo landed and it’s already the kind of game I know I’ll be reaching for after long shifts. It releases on April 23, 2026, and I’m genuinely counting the days.
What it is
A cosy road trip game launching April 23, 2026. You drive a camper van through an open world, craft things, grow a little garden in your van, and collect animal companions along the way. You don’t need to know where you’re going. There’s no deadline. The demo is already available if you want a taste before launch. Optional co-op if you want company.
Coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Why I’m looking forward to this one
Sometimes repair looks like movement. Not the productive kind, not the “I need to get away from my problems” kind. Just gentle forward motion through a world that isn’t tracking your performance. From everything the demo showed, Outbound gives you that. Craft if you want. Decorate if you want. Or just drive and look at the scenery. Nobody’s keeping score.
For the ones who fantasise about driving somewhere with no plan. This is shaping up to be the next best thing. Add it to your wishlist.
