If you have ever rearranged the cushions on the sofa and felt a wave of calm, this game already belongs to you. A Little to the Left takes the deeply specific pleasure of organising things and turns it into a full game. Multiple solutions. No wrong answers. And a cat who occasionally messes up your work, which somehow makes it better.
I played it while eating toast at 11pm and felt an unreasonable amount of satisfaction lining up pencils by colour. No regrets.
What it is
A cosy puzzle game about sorting, stacking, and tidying household objects. Each puzzle has multiple solutions, so there’s no pressure to find the “right” one. A mischievous cat disrupts your work occasionally, and it’s somehow charming rather than annoying. The art is hand-drawn and warm. The whole thing has a very specific, domestic cosiness to it.
Available on PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
Why it helps when you’re running on empty
It’s meditative in the truest sense: repetitive, gentle, and rewarding. The kind of game that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something without ever raising your heart rate. For the organisers. The tidiers. The people who line up the remote controls on the coffee table and feel their shoulders drop two inches when they do.
You know who you are. This one’s yours.
